Churchwardens’ Presentations are statements made on oath by the
parish churchwardens at the visitation of the Archbishop of Sarum [Salisbury].
These visitations were made on a three year cycle with the hearings being
held twice at Chardstock and once at Lyme Regis. The bishop was resident
in Chardstock at the time staying in the Bishops Palace, sited to the south
of St. Andrew’s Church and where The Court now stands.
